Wombs of Mother Nature
1974
36” X 48”
oil on canvas

The
primary “wombs” in this portrait of a “pregnant”
Mother Nature are the ovoid blue depressions (the 3-D effect
is much more dramatic in the larger dimensions of the painting
itself). The darker scarlet area above suggests a large, green-eyed
tiger flowing like lava uphill. The yellow area represents
the head and neck of a giant dinosaur while an embryonic one
is below. Faces of a woman and a man in the lower right corner.
